Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHamilton led Alexander into McCoy Group's private plastic surgery clinic. He rifled through a stack of reference photos, finally slapping one onto the surgeon's desk. "Turn him into this." The picture showed a face straight out of Hollywood—an unrealistic goal that would require a complete facial overhaul.
The surgeon entered with a confident grin. "Ah, I live for a challenge, Mr. McCoy. Don't worry, I'll-" As he spoke, his eyes scanned Alexander's features. Within seconds, the grin drained from his face. “Can't be done." Hamilton stared in disbelief. "Why the hell not? You once bragged that unless someone had been butchered before, you could rebuild any face from the ground up. What's different now?" The surgeon sighed, rubbing his temples. “He's already been hacked up by someone else. It's a lost cause." Hamilton gawked at Alexander as if he'd grown a second head. "So this disaster is the improved version? How hideous was he before?" The cosmetic surgery dream lay dead in the water. Hamilton seethed. In a world where appearance was everything, Alexander couldn't even pass as decent-there was no way Daniela would fall for him like this. Unless, of course, she had gone completely blind.
Spotting Hamilton's rising fury, Alexander piped up. "Con, half the women these days act blind when picking guys. I'm not that terrible. Throw on a sharp suit and sclout, and maybe a few would still bite." Hamilton sneered, "Yeah, maybe you're not hopeless, but have you seen Cedric? Daniela's already got a walking sculpture at her side. She'd need a full mental breakdown to even consider you." Alexander shrugged stubbornly. "Then again, maybe she is out of her mind. After all, love never plays by the rules." Discover more at Hamilton rubbed his temples in frustration. "Go hfor now. Be at McCoy Group tomorrow morning. I'll negotiate with Daniela's company so you can work alongside her. Since your face won't help, you'll have to win her over with talent." Alexander nodded silently and left.
The secretary shifted uncomfortably. "Sir, did you forget? Alexander and Cedric both cfrom Olisvine." Hamilton's brow furrowed. "And?" "Cedric's the king of Olisvine-by far the richest man there, and across the country..." The secretary trailed off as Hamilton's expression grew stormy. "So you're saying Alexander's already lost this battle." Meanwhile, Nikolas listened from the living room, a smirk tugging at his lips. The entire conversation sounded absurd. Hamilton was plotting to help an outsider steal his own daughterinlaw. If Alexander could be a contender, Nikolas wondered, why not him?
Inside the study, Hamilton thundered, "What did you just say Repeat that!"
Nikolas stepped forward calmly. "Dad, I understand what's bothering you. You think Daniela holds too much power, and if she stays with Cedric, she'll threaten McCoy Group's future. That's why you're trying to drive them apart, right? But why involve Alexander? I'm ten times the asset he is no scalpel required. And let's be honest, you never sawas heir material anyway. So why not give Daniela to me? She has major holdings in her name. If she's married to me, even when Cedric takes over McCoy Group, she won't lift a finger against us-loyalty to her husband, right?"
