Chapter 1259:
Donna let out a sigh of relief and looked at Alan gratefully. “Thank you—for everything. If it weren't for you, Kevin
might've taken Jerand Jasper away today.”
Alan waved it off. “I meant what | said earlier. If he threatens anyone—your friends, your family—send them to
apply at the Briggs Group.”
He wasn’t just being polite. He genuinely respected her. Raising two kids on her own wasn’t easy, and she’d
done it with grace.
Donna hesitated, then nodded. “Alright. | will. Thanks again.”
Alan reached into his pocket and handed her a card. “Here. If he shows up again, or if things end up going to
court, call me.”
Donna took the card. “Thank you,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She didn’t intend to bother him—
not unless she had no other choice.

“Why don’t you stay for dinner?” Donna offered gently.
Alan smiled but shook his head. “Better not. Kevin's probably still lurking downstairs. If | hang around too long,
he’ll start spinning his own stories.” They were part of the ssocial circle, after all. He didn’t want any rumors
about him getting out.
Donna understood and didn’t insist further.
As the twere leaving, Nina turned and waved happily at Jerome, promising to see him again soon.
Back in the elevator, Alan glanced down at her, a little surprised to see her still smiling. “Didn't you seem all
upset about leaving Jerearlier?” he asked. “Why are you suddenly so cheerful?”
“Because we helped him,” Nina said brightly, her eyes sparkling. Just knowing Jerwas okay made her happy.
Alan smiled and gave her hair a light ruffle. “Then you should stay in touch with him, you know. Otherwise, you
might lose contact one day.”
“Why would that happen?” Nina asked, puzzled.

“Because that man might take him back to his own hsomeday,” Alan said quietly. “If that happens, you two
might not get to see each other again.” He'd left his card and said what needed to be said, but deep down, he
knew Donna probably wouldn't call. She didn’t seem like the kind to ask for help, even when she needed it.
“I'll call him every day,” Nina said seriously.
Jesse glanced over. “You even have his number?”
“Of course | do!” she said proudly.
Alan and Jesse exchanged a look.
