Chapter 1272:

It was colorful and tasty. The old man was genuinely impressed. Just as Jesse turned to ask about the next two

dishes, the front door opened.

Greta stepped in, clad in a sleek leather jacket, her heels clicking against the tile. There was an unmistakable

swagger to her stride as she called out—"Jesse!”

“Aunt Greta?” Jesse turned, blinking in surprise. He looked clearly puzzled. Greta gave Hugh a brief nod of

greeting before shifting her focus to the boy. “I need your help. It’s an emergency.”

Jesse straightened slightly, his brow furrowed. “What kind of help?”

“I need you to go charm my husband for me,” Greta said, slipping down onto the couch beside him with a sigh.

“Show him just how utterly adorable you are.”

Jesse stared at her like she'd just asked him to recite poetry to a crocodile. Ever since her marriage, Noel had

been staunchly opposed to the idea of having children.

His reasoning was painfully simple—he couldn’t bear the thought of her suffering, not even a little.

No matter how often she told him she loved kids, that she wasn’t afraid of any pain, he remained unmoved—firm

as stone.

“You should probably ask Nina,” Jesse muttered, knowing full well that his own ability to charm was limited.

“She’s way better at being charming than | am.”

Greta gave a dry laugh, shaking her head. “Nina would absolutely blow it. There's a boy next door—golden hair,

big blue eyes. She’d ditch the plan and be off playing with him before she even remembered why she was

there.”

That was... accurate.

Greta leaned in slightly, her voice softening. “You don’t have to do anything extra, Jesse. Just be yourself. That's

more than enough.”

He sat in thoughtful silence for a beat, then gave a quiet nod.

Greta had always looked out for him. If she needed something—especially something this important—he wanted

to help.

After letting Hugh know where he was going, Jesse packed a small backpack and suitcase, then stepped outside.

His steps slowed as his eyes landed on Greta’s motorcycle, parked sleek and gleaming under the sun. His eyes

widened, round and shining.

The bike was so cool!

Greta caught his look and arched a brow. “Wanna hop on?”

Jesse’s mouth parted slightly, but he hesitated. “I... | don’t think kids my age are allowed to ride motorbikes.”
