Chapter 1348:

Kristian shot him a sideways glance. “Aren’t you?”

That shut Felipe up for a moment. God, what a friend.

Felipe scoffed. “Please. Not as envious as you. At least | have a kid with Farrah. Isabella actually likes me. You?

You've got nothing.”

A shadow flickered through Kristian’s gaze, but his voice stayed razor-sharp. “Heard the boy chasing after Farrah

is close to Isabella. Maybe I'll give him a little push.”

Felipe’s grin vanished. “You wouldn't dare.”

Kristian shrugged like it meant nothing. “Keep talking about marriage and I just might.”

Felipe stared at him, disbelief laced with a dash of hurt. “Are we friends?”

Kristian said nothing. He didn’t need to. The silence said it all.

Felipe exhaled—low and bitter—and dropped the subject. Sparring with Kristian was like fencing with glass:

Shaking it off, he shifted his gaze across the ballroom, where Gerard’s groomsman stood quietly near the dais.

“You remember Melvin?” he asked, nodding toward the area.

Kristian didn’t even blink, just gave him a look that said, Get to the point.

“| used to think, with how he treated Freya... if she hadn't remarried you, maybe he'd have made a move. He

treated her well. But... nothing ever happened.”

Kristian wasn’t buying it. “Trying to fish out something about Farrah and that boy again?”

“Relax,” Felipe said, sounding defensive now. “I'm just making conversation.”

Kristian leaned back, calm as ever. “Zander and that boy are working on the sproduction crew. If | wanted to

help the kid out, | could. And Zander would be glad to.”

Felipe didn’t respond this time.

He leaned back with a sigh, realizing—yet again—that talking to single men was a dangerous game. They were

sensitive, prickly, and prone to taking everything personally. Especially this grumpy one. Kristian was exhausting.

Gerard chuckled, adjusting his glasses with a knowing smile. “Someone wants to see you.”

Melvin didn’t see that coming. He looked puzzled, genuinely unable to think of anyone who would want to see

him.
