Chapter 1395

Chapter 1395:

“What are you doing?”

“Thank you for taking care ofthese past few days. Since you don’t like me, there's no reason forto stay

here and bother you,” Jessica said, her voice even, almost too polite. A faint, distant smile hovered on her lips.

“I'll probably move in with Jack tomorrow.”

“You don’t even like him,” Melvin said, baffled by how quickly everything was changing.

“That's true. But if the person | like doesn’t likeback, then Ill just find someone with a similar background,”

Jessica replied, her tone serious, with no hint of irony. “My dad and Jack’s dad go way back. They get along well,

so | won't be mistreated if | marry him.”

Melvin’s hands froze by his sides. He wanted to tell her not to do it. He wanted to say that Jack—who couldn't

even properly let go of his past flings—wasn’t someone worth marrying.

But the words stuck. Because if he said that, she would only throw it back at him, reminding him he had no right

to meddle. After all, he didn’t like her.

Caught in a storm of emotions, he asked quietly, “Have you made up your mind?”

“Yes.” Jessica gave a small nod.

“I'll take you there tomorrow,” Melvin said as he shut her suitcase and placed it down carefully. “Stay here

tonight.”

Jessica shot back, “That's not appropriate.”

Melvin dropped his gaze, his calm and detached expression giving away nothing beneath the surface.

Jessica didn’t push him. She knew he was someone who needed a little nudge. She hadn't actually called Jack

earlier—just faked the entire conversation.

“Stay here for a while. I've got something urgent to take care of,” Melvin said after thinking for a moment. There

was something unreadable in his expression, a complexity etched across his handsfeatures. “Once I'm

done, we'll talk in detail.”

He hadn't offered to drive her hdirectly because he knew her too well. If he'd said he would drop her off

once he was finished, she would have immediately called a driver instead.

Jessica raised an eyebrow, skeptical.

She didn’t quite buy the whole “urgent” thing—especially not at this hour. Melvin didn’t elaborate. Without

another word, he picked up his car keys and left, fully confident she wouldn't actually go anywhere. The moment

he stepped outside, she silently followed after him.

An hour later.

In a private room tucked inside a nightclub.
