Chapter 831 Unsuallt Colored Gemstones
Hayley’s POV:
Truman arched a brow, a playful grin spreading across his face. “If even Mr. Southwell defers to you, what's left
forto prove? I'd rather join you and sample that renowned coffee.”
As we turned to leave, a distinguished elderly man with silver hair tied neatly back and dressed in a tailored
tailcoat emerged from the crowd. He approached with measured inquired politely, “Ms. Carson, mind if | join you

Hera’s senses immediately identified him-the Alpha of the Newmoon Pack and CEO of Rufus International
Corporation, Rufus Covington.
| was still considering his request when Baxter interjected enthusiastically, “Mr. Covington is also a formidable
chess player. This is a perfect opportunity for our master to showcase her skill.”
Rufus offereda respectful nod, his eyes alight with anticipation as he fell into Baxter.

Truman caught my eye with a subtle, knowing glance-a silent signal that our objective was all but achieved, and
success was within reach.
| responded with a faint, confident smile.
Baxter was known for two great passions-chess and coffee. The beans he reserved for esteemed guests were
exquisitely rare, valued at a small fortune per pound.
When they arrived at his place, he personally prepared the coffee.
| accepted the coffee cup, took a slow sip, and met Baxter's confident yet eager gaze. A faint smile touched my

is truly a premium blend.”
Baxter gave a slight, respectful nod. “Coming from you, such praise carries weight. By the way, when did you
arrive in our pack? Why didn’t you seekout for a gof chess?”
| paused briefly, then replied with a light laugh, “I've been traveling between packs these past few years and got
so caught up with certain matters. It wasn’t that | didn’t want to find you-it’s just that you've been so reclusive,
making yourself rather hard to track down.”
He chuckled heartily. “Ah, that would be because of the Aetherfall Gambit. | vowed not to see you again until I'd
devised a winning strategy. Yet, it seems you remain perpetually steps ahead.”
His tone was deeply respectful, entirely devoid of the disdain others often showedfor being a “low-ranking
Omega.”
He had always held in high regard anyone who surpassed him in chess.
Seeing an elder treatwith the level of deference typically reserved for a high-ranking Alpha, excessively
polite and almost reverent, | feigned annoyance and said, “Alright, that’s enough. If you keep being this formal
and deferential with me, I'll never play chess with you again.
“We agreed. | can be your master, but we've got to keep things casual and equal, like friends. Otherwise, I'm
walking away.”
“Fine, fine! Then I'll just call you Hayley. You're really not arrogant at all!” Baxter's eyes held even greater
admiration as he looked at me.
“How about a few rounds of chess? And you can teacha few more moves?”
“Sure,” | agreed readily.
Rufus watched us with a warm smile, remarking, “I never would have guessed a young Omega like you
could be such a master of chess, Ms. Carson.”
After he spoke, Truman fixed his deep, intense gaze on me.
| didn’t respond, focusing instead on the game.
About half an hour later, Baxter started to feel tired, and the gathering ended so he could rest.
| stayed behind and called out to Rufus.
“Mr. Covington, can we have a little chat?”
He nodded readily. “Of course!”
Rufus was straightforward by nature and seemed to sense | had another purpose.
