Fabian wished to have a private chat with Adelaide, yet she merely arranged ssnacks and coffee for him,
preferring to linger and savor the heartwarming family reunion scene a while longer.
Paisley was right. Such reunions were both touching and tear-jerking, filling one with emotion.
Adelaide wiped her tears, watching Samantha hold Poly tightly, and felt a deep
SOIToW.
She knew she’d never again feel her mother’s embrace.
As she turned, she noticed Priscilla, a tearful mess, with Susan trying to comfort her.
Seeing Adelaide’s tears, Priscilla softened and called out to her.
Adelaide wiped her tears and approached. Priscilla embraced her and declared, “From now on,
your mom.”

Adelaide was touched, yet felt a bit awkward and rigid.
Since she was half a head taller than Priscilla, she squatted slightly as Priscilla hugged her tightly and patted her
hair, sparing Priscilla the trouble of standing on tiptoe.
This made Adelaide recall what it was like when she had to stand on tiptoe to get close to others-a feeling that
was far from comfortable. It left her feeling as if she might lose her balance and float away at any moment.
“Priscilla, Fabian is waiting for me. | should go,” Adelaide whispered.
Priscilla released her, her eyes still glistening with unshed tears, and gently cradled Adelaide’s face in her hand.

Her skin was so fair and smooth, and her features were just as lovely as Priscilla’s had been in her youth-it was
truly endearing.
She thought, “Lance has excellent taste.”
Priscilla said, “Go on. | need to watch this a bit longer-it’s more touching than any play!”
Paisley walked over to Priscilla and jokingly shooed Adelaide away, saying, “You go on about your business.
We've got things under control here. Priscilla, may | borrow your shoulder? I'm all choked up with mixed
feelings.”
“Tellabout it,” Priscilla said, hugging Paisley as tears streamed down her face. Unknowingly, they nudged
Susan out of the way.
Adelaide glanced back at the conference room, where the family had dried their
tears.
This stirred a sudden pain in her.
She recalled her return from the Shadow Peaks and the devastating news of her father and brother's deaths. The
helplessness and grief she'd felt then were still palpable.
In the lounge, Fabian had finished his snacks and coffee.
Upon seeing Adelaide enter, he stood and greeted her with a smile.
Adelaide quickly grasped Fabian’s arm and said, “Fabian, no need for so many formalities. Please, have a seat.”
She was well aware that Fabian had assisted her and her mother in numerous ways, both openly and behind the
scenes, over the years. She had yet to properly express her gratitude in person, but now she had the chance.
Once Fabian was seated, Adelaide spoke earnestly, “I know you've helped my mother anda great deal over
the years. And since Lance and | mated, I'm sure you've spoken up for him with Lycan Erasmus on multiple
occasions. | want to sincerely thank you for all you've done.”

Fabian humbly responded, “Luna Adelaide, it's my pleasure. Please, sit. | have a few words to share.”

Adelaide pondered Fabian’s words. She understood that Lycan Erasmus’s “ample trust” had its limits, given his
naturally suspicious nature.
Even with shared interests, absolute trust between people was rare.
Lycan Erasmus, being naturally suspicious, was particularly so. Any trust he granted was exceptional.
As for the importance of trust in a mateship, she acknowledged the challenges ahead.

As the Ironthorn Army commander, she was duty-bound to obey Lycan Erasmus’s orders.
No matter what, Lycan Erasmus would demand her loyalty to the royal family and himself first.
Conflicts were inevitable, making trust between mates all the more crucial.
Yet, she sensed there might be more to Fabian’s words, perhaps a subtle warning or implication she couldn't
quite grasp.
