Chapter 1633:

A chill crawled up Elissa’s spine. She threw off the covers, swung her legs over the side of the bed, and rushed to

the door. Her footsteps echoed down the hall as she ran straight to the neonatal unit. Then, she pressed the

doorbell frantically.

“Elissa?” A night nurse opened the door and recognized Elissa instantly. After all, Elissa had cevery day

without fail.

“Where's Locke?” Elissa asked, breathless. She scanned the room behind the nurse. “I want to see Locke.”

“Elissa...” The nurse stepped forward and caught her arm. She hesitated for a brief moment, then shook her

head. “Locke... isn’t here.”

“What do you mean he’s not here?” Elissa’s mind reeled. What did that mean?

“That's impossible! | was just here this afternoon. | held him. | saw him!”

Ignoring the nurse, Elissa pushed past her and stumbled into the room. Through the glass, she saw that the

incubator where Locke had been lying was now empty.

“Where's Locke?” Elissa spun around and grabbed the nurse’s hand in a panic. “Where did he go? Where's my

baby?”

The nurse's eyes welled with sympathy. Unable to bear it, she admitted, “Your mom had someone take Locke

away.”

Elissa went still. The words struck like a blow to the chest.

“When?” she whispered.

“Just now...”

Before the nurse could finish, Elissa bolted.

“Elissa! Stop! It’s pouring outside, and you're still recovering!”

But Elissa couldn't hear. The only thing she knew was that her child had been taken from her. And if she didn’t go

to him now, she might never see him again.

“Locke, wait for Mommy!”

Elissa ran out of the impatient building, her feet pounding the pavement without pause. Torrential rain cascaded

around her, and through the blurred veil of water, she glimpsed Savannah's silhouette.

“Mom!”

Savannah stood by an open car door, its interior barely visible. From Elissa’s point of view, she could make out

someone cradling Locke inside.

“Locke!”

A searing pain gripped Elissa’s heart as she surged forward.

At the sound of her approach, Savannah spun around, her face creasing with concern. Without a moment's

hesitation, she slammed the car door and barked to the person inside, “Drive! Hurry!”

“Understood.”

Elissa was gaining ground, her voice desperate.

“Locke!”

“Elissa!”

But before she could close the distance, Savannah stepped into her path, blocking her.

“It’s pouring out here! Why are you outside?”
