Chapter 1654:
“She says no.” Elissa let out a soft sigh. “She looked okay in the video call. It's just... she’s far away, and she
doesn’t wanttraveling all that way.”
Robin’s brows drew together in thought. “Didn’t your mom used to live in Aradimen?”
“She still does,” Elissa replied. “She had the surgery at Mayo Hospital—it's one of the top facilities in Aradimen.”
Thank goodness for that. Knowing her mom was in capable hands was the only thing keeping Elissa from
completely unraveling.
“I see,” Robin murmured, and then his eyes lit up with an idea. “I'm actually heading to Aradimen in a few
days... business stuff. | could stop by and check in on your mom.”
Elissa blinked, caught off guard. “That's thoughtful, but really—there’s no need. Don’t trouble yourself.”
“It's no trouble at all,” Robin said firmly. “I’m going anyway, and it wouldn't take much to visit her on your behalf.
It might give you speace of mind.”

Still, Elissa hesitated. They weren't married anymore. Asking him for this felt strange—too personal, too close.
“Elissa,” Robin added gently, a touch of sadness in his smile. “We may be divorced, but we've known each other
a long time. Your mom has always felt like family to me. It only feels right to check in on her while I'm there.”
After a pause, Elissa finally gave in, her voice softer now. “Alright... thank you. I really do appreciate it.”
“You're welcome,” Robin replied, his expression easing. “I'll let you know how she’s doing once I've seen her—so
you won't have to keep wondering.”
Mayo Hospital, Ontmond State, Aradimen.
That morning, Linda, accompanied by her caregiver, returned to her room after finishing a routine checkup.

Just as they passed the outpatient building, it started to rain—sudden and heavy.
“Miss Harris, let's go inside before we get soaked.”
“All right.”
The caregiver wheeled Linda into the outpatient hall, joining the crowd already gathered there for shelter.
“Elissa, wait...” Robin rushed through the door, brushing rain from his hair. “It’s raining, so | have to step in to
take cover.”
He was on a call with Elissa.
“Did | wake you, calling this late?” he asked.
“I'm still awake,” Elissa answered on the other end. “Did you see my mom? How is she?”
“I did,” Robin replied with a nod.
He had just returned from checking on Savannah and explained everything he saw. “Your mom's doing much
better. No need to worry, Elissa.”
“Thank you.”
