Chapter 1267:

“Have her sign this,” he said sharply. “She can have whatever she wants.” He was fed up. These three kids had

wasted his entire day. “If not, she'll be getting a court summons in a few days.”

Jesse didn’t speak.

Kevin went on, “Donna doesn’t stand a chance in court. Her income, her job, her living situation—none of it holds

up next to mine.” Those were all factors the court would take into account.

“You're right about that,” Jesse replied, still calm, his voice soft and childlike. “But the judge will also take Jerome

and Jasper’s wishes into account.”

Kevin found himself frowning. The kid sounded way too logical for someone so young.

Most kids weren't this clear-headed—or this articulate.

“And more importantly,” Jesse added, “you once tried to force Jerome's mom to get an abortion. That alone

means you won't win.”

“There's no proof of that,” Kevin said flatly.

That incident had been buried.

No one would cforward now.

“The hospital had cameras,” Jesse reasoned calmly.

Kevin scoffed. “Surveillance from over five years ago? You think that still exists?” That finally sounded like a kid

talking. Naive.

But Jesse just looked him straight in the eye. “If it ever existed, my mom can find it.”

The quiet confidence in his tone made Kevin pause. That one sentence made him wonder again—Who was

Freya? What kind of woman could be close friends with Trent and married to the head of the Lambert Group... yet

stay so far under the radar? Why had no one in their circle heard much about her? Kevin stayed quiet.

Jesse took a different approach. He softened his voice. “Mr. Wilson, | don’t know why you're so set on custody,

but I still want to talk with you. I’m just a kid, but | know how important moms are. If you take Jeraway by

force, he'll end up hating you. Maybe forever.”

“I can give him the best life,” Kevin said, his voice more level now.

“What kids really want... is love,” Jesse said quietly.

Kevin frowned. Then asked, “So dads don’t matter?”

“They do,” Jesse said. He teased his
