Jesse, after hugging Freya, turned and gave Ellis a quick hug too.
“Only you would hand us over to your love rival,” Jesse whispered into Ellis’s ear, keeping it just between the two

Jesse didn’t even know what to say to that. As far as he knew, their family seemed pretty well-off.

factly, not treating Jesse like a little kid. “You two cost a fortune—I can’t keep up.”
“You can only fool Nina with that,” Jesse said knowingly—he saw right through the act.
“Go and have fun.” Ellis stopped joking and gave him a look. “Take care of Nina.”
