Chapter 1652:

“Once she starts grade school, you guys should really start paying closer attention to her feelings,” Jesse said,

giving them a heads-up. “I'm worried she might fall in love too early.”

“Alright,” Freya agreed with a smile.

Even though she said yes, deep down she didn’t think there was anything to worry about. Nina was still way

more interested in games than romance.

“Oh, by the way—Jerome’s coming to the airport to pick you guys up tomorrow,” Freya added. “Didn't Nina say

she wanted to bring him a gift? Has she prepared it?”

Jesse fell silent for a moment. Honestly, he figured Nina had probably forgotten all about it.

Freya picked up on the silence. “She hasn't prepared anything?”

“Probably not,” Jesse said, thinking back over the past few days. He hadn't seen her set anything aside.

“Tell her to get something ready,” Freya instructed firmly. “I don’t want Jerto end up disappointed.”

Jesse agreed. After hanging up, he went off to find Nina.

They had to leave for the airport really early the next morning, and knowing how hard it was to get Nina out of

bed, there was no way she’d have tto pull something together at the last minute. He had to tell her now so

she'd be ready.

When he got downstairs, Nina had just cback from walking Damian to the door. Spotting Jesse, she puffed

up proudly. “Damian gavea gift, but you didn’t get anything.”

“And?” Jesse asked, clearly unimpressed by her bragging.

“This proves I'm sweeter than you in his eyes,” Nina said with a smug little grin, always eager to get a reaction

out of him.

“Alright then, the sweetest Nina,” Jesse said, leveling her with a raised eyebrow. “We're leaving tomorrow. Have

you kept your promise to Jerome?” His eyes locked on hers. “What gift did you prepare for him?”

Nina was still riding high on Damian's gift, and it took her a second to register what he meant. “What gift?”

Jesse didn’t reply. He just stared at her.

Nina blinked back at him, puzzled.

A moment later, Jesse relented. “You promised to bring him a gift and souvenirs, remember?”

“Oh, that! | already asked Uncle Kristian to helpout ages ago,” Nina said with a proud little laugh. “He got

Hearing that, Jesse instinctively glanced toward Kristian, suddenly suspicious. He had a hunch the gifts for Freya

might have Kristian’s personal touch mixed in.

And Jesse was right—Kristian had indeed slipped in something of his own. But it was subtle. Nothing that stood

out,

The next morning arrived. Kristian took them all back to Alerith.

Before they left, Nina saw Damian one last time. By the tKristian and the kids reached Alerith, it was already

past ten.

The second Nina spotted Freya, she ran full speed toward her, calling out sweetly, “Mom!”

After being apart for more than ten days, Freya was overwhelmed with how much she’d missed her kids. She

took one of their hands in each of hers and walked them straight to the car. As for Kristian, he calong too.
