Chapter 1365
Jackson chuckled softly, "What do you want?"
"I'll owe you one for now. I'll hit you up when I figure it out."
"Alright," Jackson replied, his voice deep and resonant, sending a little shiver through Fiona's ears.
Fiona wasn't just a sucker for a handsface; she was also a total voice enthusiast. Hearing his voice was
enough to make her heart flutter.
She touched her ears, a slight smile tugging at her lips.
Tsk.
This guy.
He really knew how to get to her heart.

Fiona and Jackson kept chatting on the phone until Fiona walked into the private dining room and finally hung up.
Louise had already returned. After being sick earlier, she looked a bit pale.
"Fiona's back, chave a seat."
Ms. Ashley waved excitedly at Fiona as soon as she saw her, as if she were her own daughter, a gesture she
hadn't extended to Louise when she cback.
Fiona walked over and sat next to Ms. Ashley. Ms. Ashley's favoritism towards Fiona was obvious to everyone.
The folks from class nine exchanged glances, and Robert cleared his throat, teasing, "Ms. Ashley, you're so good
to Fiona, we're starting to wonder if you're planning to make her your daughter-in-law." Louise's face froze.
Hearing this, Ms. Ashley gave Nash a look mixed with frustration and disappointment, "I do wish Fiona could be
my daughter-in-law, but my son Nash isn't quite up to the mark," she said, shooting Nash a glare, "Useless!"
Nash: "..."
Suddenly, the chicken leg in his hand didn't seem so appetizing.
Yep, that's his mom for you.
Robert touched his nose, trying to stifle a laugh. It looked like Nash's standing at hwas even lower than his.
"Robert, quit joking around," a girl chimed in to defend Louise, "Everyone knows Nash and Louise are the real
deal... don't stir the pot."
She didn't spell it out, considering Ms. Ashley was right there, but everyone got the hint.
Robert threw up his hands in surrender, admitting his mistake.
Seeing them link her and Nash
brought scolor back to Louise's cheeks. She and Nash were a pair, but in her mind, Fiona was only fit for
serving those older men.
Nash frowned slightly but kept quiet.
Ms. Ashley watched him silently, then chuckled, "You're all still in school, so watch what you say." She dabbed at
the corner of her mouth with a napkin, "Besides, while the Woods family might not be the highest of high society,
not just anyone can becour
daughter-in-law."
Her words were like a slap to Louise's face.
Louise's face turned ghostly pale. Her hand, resting on her lap, clenched tightly.
Ms. Ashley had just said Nash didn't deserve Fiona, and now she was implying that the Woods family had high
standards for their daughters-in-law.
Wasn't she blatantly saying Louise wasn't good enough for Nash?
A woman kept by an old man was deemed worthy, but she wasn't?
"Mom," Nash called out, his face darkening.
Ms. Ashley still smiled, the epitof a dignified lady, picking up a fork and offering Fiona a bite of the dish,
"Fiona, try this, it's delicove
The atmosphere got even more awkward.
That meal was painfully awkward.
Louise was the most embarrassed of all. Even when everyone left together after the meal, Louise's face was still
ashen.
