Chapter 469
Did she really dislike Violet, or was there more to the story?
Carole and Nanson had been siblings for years, and he knew his sister wasn't the type to change her demeanor
so easily. There had to be a reason behind it.
Smiling to shift the topic, Nanson asked, "Hey sis, where's Annie?"
Carole replied, "She should be in her room. I'll go get her."
Just as Carole stood up from the couch, the saying "speak of the devil" seemed to cto life. Anthea emerged
from the room with a casual, "Mom, Uncle."
Her eyes scanned the room and landed on a woman she didn't recognize. This must be Violet.
Anthea raised an eyebrow slightly, immediately recalling the incident at the skincare store the previous day.
With a smile, Nanson introduced them, "Annie, this is Ms. White. Violet, meet my eldest niece."
Violet quickly stood up from the couch, her eyes alight with surprise. "So this is Annie! What a beauty! Hi Annie,
I'm Violet. Your uncle speaks of you often!"
Having spent years in the bustling nightlife, Violet had never encountered such a stunning girl. Beautiful.
Absolutely stunning. If she were at one of their gatherings, she'd be the brightest star, the one everyone
admired.

"Hello, Ms. White." Anthea greeted politely.
Violet frowned slightly. Despite Anthea being just nineteen, she exuded an inexplicable pressure. It was peculiar,
like standing before the highest authority in a bustling arena. It unnerved Violet, making her hesitate to meet
Anthea's gaze directly.
She glanced down at herself. She hadn't said anything wrong, nor had she offended this mother-daughter duo.
Her attire was impeccable... so why did it feel like a weight sat heavy on her heart?
Carole turned to Violet and asked, "What does your family do?"
Carole had only caught a glimpse of the events yesterday. She worried she might
have misjudged Violet and didn't want to jump to conclusions.
Violet replied, "My father is a university professor, and my mother is an
archaeologist. They're currently living abroad."
In truth, Violet's parents were simple farmers.
Carole nodded, "Quite an esteemed family! Do you have any siblings?"
"I'm an only child," Violet continued, "which is why | envy Nanson for having such
a wonderful sister like you!"
Carole smiled politely.
Seeing that Carole didn't continue, the conversation, Violet quickly. changed the subject. "Oh, by the way,
brought you a gift. It's just a small token, but | hope you like it."
She presented a beautifully packaged gift—a high-end lipstick. No woman could resist a good lipstick.
Carole declined gracefully, "I appreciate the gesture, but | rarely wear makeup. You should keep it for yourself."
Violet placed the gift box on the table, "I've brought it, so please accept it."
Nanson chimed in to support Violet, "Sis, Violet spent a long tpicking out that perfect shade for you. You
should take it."
"But | really won't use it," Carole said, standing up. "You all chat; I'll go make dinner."
"I'll help you!" Violet stood up immediately.
Carole declined, "No need, the kitchen's smoky. Don't ruin your outfit."
"It's no problem. | cook at hoften."
Carole gave Violet a surprised
glance. Typically, someone who enjoys cooking at hand
cherishes life wouldn't have a bad
nature. Maybe she had
misunderstood Violet?
Carole and Violet busied themselves in the kitchen, leaving Nanson and Anthea in the living room.
Nanson looked at Anthea. "Annie, you don't seem to like Violet much, do you?" "No, | don't," Anthea nodded
slightly.
Nanson was taken aback by her candidness. "Why don't you like her?" he asked.
Anthea took a bite of an apple and recounted the events she witnessed at the mall the previous day.
Listening intently, Nanson said,
"Annie, could you have
misunderstood Violet? I've known
her for a long time, and she's poet
someone to lose her temper easily. If the salesgirl was at fault first, and Violet slapped her in anger, it's
somewhat understandable."
He continued, "Annie, you only saw Violet hitting someone, not what led up to it.
Isn't it a bit unfair to judge without knowing the whole story?"
