Chapter 1655:

And with that, she went upstairs, clearly not planning to meddle in their games. After chatting with Hugh about

Jesse and Nina's return, she discussed Christmas plans. Once the call ended, she headed off to check on the

three kids. But the vibe in the room felt a little off.

Freya noticed Jerand Nina sitting quietly, saying nothing, so she leaned toward Jesse and asked in a low

voice, “What's going on with them?”

“They had a fight,” Jesse answered honestly.

Freya was a bit taken aback. Those two? Fighting?

“I'm heading home.” Jerstood up, still his usual polite self. “Thank you for your hospitality.”

“Won't you stay a little longer?” Freya asked gently.

Jercast a glance at Nina, who sat on the floor trying to hold it together.

“Alright, I'll have the driver take you back,” Freya said without pressing him. But before he left, she turned to

Nina. “Nina, Jerome's leaving. Aren't you going to see him off?”

Nina quietly stood and walked over, still not saying a word.

Freya had never seen her like this. Nina had always been bubbly, cheerful, and carefree. Even when something

upset her, she usually bounced right back.

“No need,” Jersaid flatly and headed downstairs.

Still, Nina followed him out. It was only after the car pulled away that she turned around and trudged upstairs.

Freya, noticing her strange behavior, stopped her. “Did you two get into a fight?”

Nina shook her head at first. Then, realizing that wasn’t the right answer, she gave a small nod.

“Can you tellwhat happened?” Freya asked gently, clearly concerned.

“Mom,” Nina said in a voice tinged with frustration as she leaned against her.

Freya replied softly, “Yes?”

“Am | only allowed to have one best friend in my life?” Nina asked with complete sincerity.

Freya thought for a second before answering, “As long as you care for each of your friends and stay close to

them, you can have as many as you like.”

“Can | play with Jerand also with Damian?” Nina asked again, hopeful.

Freya nodded. “Of course.”

“Jerome’s upset because | played with Damian,” Nina said dejectedly, confused about what she had done wrong.

“I didn’t know what was fun or tasty in Jeucwell, so | even asked Uncle Kristian to help get stuff ready for him,

but he didn’t want it.”

Freya was about to ask more when Jesse walked over.

Seeing Nina's red eyes, he said, “You head upstairs first. I'll talk to Mom.”

“Okay.” Nina was clearly out of sorts. She clutched the little figurine and climbed the stairs, her cheeks puffed in

frustration.

Freya looked worried. “Was it really how Nina described it?”

“Pretty much. Jerwas upset when he found out Nina had fun with Damian for days in Jeucwell. And when he

realized the wooden figurine was something Damian made, he asked Nina to give it to him,” Jesse explained.

Freya was momentarily speechless. She found it hard to believe. This didn’t sound like the Jershe knew—the

polite, well-mannered little gentleman.
