Chapter 1662:
Bethany continued, “I'm telling you, Faye’s the most likely suspect. Especially since every security guard who
went looking for her that night was thoroughly checked, and nothing suspicious turned up. That just makes Faye
look even more questionable.”
Belinda, her tone steady and measured, said, “Enough. Let's leave it be. Lucas knows what's going on, and he'll
investigate the matter. Let's eat.”
With that, they turned their attention to the meal, and no one mentioned Faye again.
Halfway through, Johnson excused himself to use the restroom. As he neared it, a sudden commotion erupted
from a nearby private room—a sharp bang echoed as a door slammed shut. Then, silence.
Johnson recalled that these rooms were soundproof. His brow furrowed as he wondered if something had
happened to the people inside. Acting on instinct, he knocked on the door.
No answer came, even after several knocks. His unease grew. Without hesitation, he grasped the doorknob and
pushed the door open.

and frantic. Her blouse had been ripped, hanging loosely off her shoulders from the scuffle. By chance, Johnson
knew the woman.
When Zoie spotted Johnson, her eyes welled up, a mix of relief and hope lighting her gaze. “Johnson, please help
me! This man’s trying to assault me!” she sobbed, tears streaming down her face.
The man’s expression changed tically the instant he saw Johnson.
The man released Zoie instantly, smoothed down his wrinkled clothes, and faced Johnson with a groveling smile
plastered across his features. “Mr. Hoffman, please understand—this is nothing more than a terrible
misunderstanding. | simply wished to engage Miss Wilde in pleasant, cordial conversation. Harassment never
crossed my mind, | assure you.”
Johnson remained indifferent to whether this man had truly intended to assault Zoie or not. Nevertheless, having
pushed open the private room door and witnessed the compromising scene unfolding before him, he couldn't
simply turn away and pretend nothing had occurred.

Johnson's attention shifted toward Zoie. “Do you want to call the police?”
The question seemed to strike Zoie like a physical blow. Her head shook in frantic refusal. “Absolutely not! We
cannot contact the police under any circumstances! No one else should discover what happened here.”
