Chapter 339
Xylia was pregnant. She stared at the test in disbelief, “How could this even happen?”
Even though she and Joshua had always been careful, somehow, that one-in-a-million chance still managed to
mess things up for her.
She thought back to the last tshe and Joshua had slept together. The condom they'd used didn't fit right, so
Joshua ended up pulling out—still, it clearly hadn't worked.
Xylia couldn't believe it. “I never thought that one little mistake would actually change my life,” she thought to
herself.
Who would've thought that after all that, she’d end up with a baby thanks to Joshua?
Xylia wasn’t happy about it at all.
She grabbed Eliza’s hand, her eyes red and swollen with tears. “Joshua isn’t dead. He can’t be dead! Take me
back to Daltonia-I have to find him,” Xylia insisted.
Based on the language in the hospital room, Xylia realized she’d been sent back to Alverland while she was out
cold.
But she had absolutely no desire to be in Alverland right now.
Joshua had just vanished without any clear reason, and Xylia couldn't accept it for a single second.
She hadn’t seen his body for herself, and there was no way she'd believe those little scraps they found could
prove Joshua was really dead.
Someone as tough as Joshua-how could he possibly just die?
Eliza hugged Xylia close.
“Xylia, Joshua is my only son. | don’t want to believe he’s gone either, but that’s the reality and we have to
accept it.”
“No, | can’t...l just can’t...” Xylia cried, her voice trembling and fading with each word.
Her crying grew softer and softer, until suddenly, overcby emotion, she passed out again.
Eliza panicked and immediately called for Cyrus.
Cyrus rushed over with a top gynecologist in tow, heading straight for Xylia’s room.
After a thorough examination, the doctor concluded that Xylia had fainted due to overwhelming grief and
physical weakness. Right now, she’s stable-but if she keeps getting upset, the baby could be at risk.
Eliza looked at Xylia anxiously. “What about Xylia herself? Will she be okay?”

The doctor replied, “She’s severely weakened, which is just as dangerous.

Eliza was beside herself with worry. “What should we do? When Xylia wakes up, | know she'll still be hung up on
Joshua.”

Cyrus comforted her. “It’s okay, Mrs. Garcia. Trust me-I won't let anything happen to Xylia.
Strangely, Cyrus's words managed to calm Eliza a little, although sanxiety still lingered.
She felt a bit better, but the worry in her heart didn’t completely fade.
Cyrus cast a heavy look at his sister lying in the hospital bed, then turned to Eliza. “Did Uncle Aaron find
anything when he went to Daltonia?”
Just hearing about this, Eliza couldn't hold back her tears anymore.
“Yesterday... he toldthat Joshua really is gone,” Eliza whispered, her voice breaking.
Even now, Eliza couldn’t wrap her mind around it. Her only son-the boy she'd loved and cared for all her life -was
simply gone, just like that.
It's all just too sudden!
It all happened so fast that Eliza still felt like she was dreaming.
Cyrus fell silent.
Who would've thought one quick trip to Daltonia would cost him his life? What's Xylia supposed to do now?
After Cyrus left, Eliza stayed by Xylia’s bedside, silent and watchful.
She gently stroked Xylia’s hair, watching over her like she was her own daughter.
“Xylia, please don’t let anything happen to you,” Eliza whispered, her voice barely audible.
When news broke in Jupiton about Joshua's death, everyone was left in utter shock.
Nobody expected the heir of Garcia Group—so young, so full of promise-to die so suddenly.
And then rumors started flying that his fiancée was already pregnant with his child.
At Joshua's funeral, Xylia cin mourning dress. She let herself break down and sob for him one last time, but
after the ceremony, she never showed her sorrow to anyone again.
She moved in with the Garcia family, where Eliza quietly took care of her every need.
Xylia kept going to work as usual, ate her meals and got her sleep like nothing had ever happened. On the
outside, she just looked perfectly fine.
All the while, the baby inside her grew a little bigger with every single day.

Chapter 889
Sometimes, when Xylia would gently touch her belly, she'd fall into deep thought.
Every tEliza saw Xylia like this, she felt a pang of worry instead of comfort-there was nothing reasuring
about her blank, distant look.
Aaron could see exactly what's troubling Eliza; deep down, both of them were terrified that Xylia might ju give up
on life entirely.
Aaron gently took Eliza's hand and reassured her, “Relax. Xylia isn’t someone who gives up that easily. She'll
keep living-not just for herself, but for Joshua. She'll carry his legacy inside her?
The heartbreak of losing their son aged Aaron and Eliza overnight-half of their hair had turned white in just a few
short months.
Sometimes Eliza would sigh, thinking, if it weren't for Xylia and the baby she was carrying...
...she might've followed Joshua, choosing to leave this world with him.
“Ever since Noelle left last time, she hasn't cback. Nobody knows where she went. It’s pretty odd,” Aaron
said.
This thought had been weighing on Aaron’s mind for ages.
When Eliza heard Noelle’s name, any trace of kindness in her voice had vanished.
“If she can’t survive out there, she’ll crunning back to us. Instead of worrying about her, you should be
more concerned about Xylia,” Eliza said.
Aaron could only sigh at how drastically Eliza's attitude toward Noelle had changed.
He wasn’t actually worried about Noelle; what bothered him was her connection to Richard. For all he knew, she
could have had a hand in Joshua's death.
But after asking Quentin Lennox to track her down in Daltonia for so long and coming up empty-handed, he was
starting to feel suspicious himself. Was her disappearance really just an accident?
Noelle was a grown woman-how could someone just vanish like that?
There wasn’t a single trace of her in either Alverland or Daltonia.
Where could she possibly be?
After spacing out for a bit, Xylia glanced over and saw Eliza and Aaron standing a short distance away, watching
her quietly.
She stood up and walked toward them.
When her eyes fell on all that white hair on their heads, a bittersweet ache welled up inside her.
“Dad, Mom, really-I’'m okay. You don’t need to worry about me,” Xylia said softly, trying her best to reassure
them.

Her voice was gentle, barely above a whisper.
Since moving in with the Garcia family, Xylia simply saw herself as their daughter-in-law.

She and Joshua never had a wedding, but in her heart, she knew Joshua was the only man she'd ever want to
spend her life with.
She'd made up her mind, taking it upon herself to join their family as one of their own.
Eliza smiled, taking Xylia’s hand in hers. “We know, Xylia. We trust you'll take good care of yourself and the little
one.”
Six months in, Xylia’s belly wasn’t much to look at yet.
She rested her hand on her stomach, feeling the tiny heartbeat thumping away inside.
This was their baby-hers and Joshua's.
Even if it was just for this kid, she’d force herself to hold it together.
She nodded.
Eliza and Xylia strolled back to the villa together.
Aaron got a call from Quentin and stepped aside to answer it.
There had been sbad blood between them before, but now, all that was water under the bridge.
“Noelle-the one you askedto look into-was just spotted on a flight from Daltonia to Alverland. I'm sending
you the flight number, maybe you'll find something,” Quentin said.
“Thanks,” Aaron replied.
There was a long silence on the line before Quentin finally said, “Don’t mention it.”
As soon as he said that, the call disconnected.
Moments later, Aaron got the flight number sent to his phone.
He sent it to David, asking him to see if he could find out where Noelle had gone.
After that, Eliza and Xylia headed back to the living room.
Eliza looked at Xylia with concern. “Xylia, did you really transfer the studio’s ownership to Josie-without keeping
any stake for yourself?”
Eliza remembered how Xylia used to be, so full of ambition and energy whenever it cto her career.
She knew exactly how much that stumeant to Xylia.
After Joshua's funeral, Xylia had simply let Josie take over the studio.

Chapter 339
Xylia hadn't picked up fashion design again since then.
Her old dreams just seemed to fade away after Joshua was gone.
She figured there was no point hanging on if her heart wasn’t in it, and she didn’t want to stand in the way of
anyone else chasing their dreams at the company.
Xylia smiled and gently rubbed her belly.
All I want now is to bring this baby into the world and look after him, Xylia said softly.
Eliza gazed at Xylia, heart aching for her, unable to hide the sympathy in her eyes.
She and Aaron knew all too well the agony of losing a child-the pain that cfrom being parents left behind.
But Xylia was suffering just as deeply, mourning not only Joshua, but the life she’d dreamed of with him.
She refused to let herself cry anymore-not because there was no pain, but because she'd accepted the harsh
reality. There was simply nothing she could do about it.
Now, the only thing forcing her to stay strong was the tiny heartbeat inside her-the last tie she had left to
Joshua.
Eliza forced her lips into a smile, even though her heart was aching inside, and gently stroked Xylia’s belly.
She said softly, “Once this little guy is born, we'll take care of him together.” ‘No matter how hard this is, | have
to stay strong for Xylia and the baby, Eliza thought.
