Her words left him rigid in his chair, his complexion turning pale as he reached for his water with a shaky hand. “I

“Good,” Colleen replied, lifting a napkin and dabbing her lips. She reached for her phone. “I appreciate your time
today. Let's just split the bill, if you don’t mind.”
She had already checked the prices during their order and, without hesitation, sent her portion of the payment

She slipped her phone away, offering a polite smile. “I'm full now. Unless you need anything else, I'll be heading

Unwilling to let the moment end, he asked, “Would you like a ride?”
“That's not necessary.” She stood, swinging her bag over her arm, and shook her head. “I brought my own car,
so I'll be alright.”
A wave was her farewell as she stepped away from the table.
Behind her, Brady got up from his seat and started after her.
Without looking back, Colleen strode directly toward the parking garage, her bag resting on her shoulder.
Inside the quiet garage, a sound caught her attention—footsteps echoing not far behind.
A sense of unease crept in as she realized someone was tailing her.

Her heartbeat picked up speed, each step making her more alert.
She slowed down to test her suspicion. The footsteps behind her also becslower.
With a frown, she picked up her pace, only to hear the footsteps quicken as well. Someone was really following

Uncertain, Colleen tried to figure out her next move.
Steeling herself, Colleen drew a deep breath, gripped her bag, and then spun around all at once.
With her eyes shut, she swung her bag as hard as she could.
The impact caught Brady by surprise, making him raise his arm to block the blow. “Hey, Colleen! It's me!”
Seeing the look of panic on her face, he realized she must have thought he was screep. “It's Brady.”
Colleen’s confusion melted away as she blinked rapidly and finally recognized Brady. Relief washed over her
features.
“Brady, you really gavea fright!” A short laugh slipped out. “Funny running into you here. Did you cfor

Something in Brady's look caught her attention.
