Chapter 1669:

Suddenly, she broke into laughter. The laughter sounded bitter and unhinged.

Both Ernest and Eric, standing nearby, flinched at the sound of her laughter. They turned to her, concern etched

across their faces.

“Why are you gaping atlike that?”

Linda wheeled herself toward the staircase and cto a stop at the top. Her gaze locked on the steps

stretching below her.

She let out a long sigh and her voice turned sharp.

“I should've thrown myself down the stairs back then... with that cursed child. | should've ended everything right

then and there!”

She shut her eyes, hands clenching the sides of her wheelchair.

“It’s not too late now.”

In that split second, Ernest and Eric locked eyes, both having the shorrifying realization.

“No!”

But they were a beat too slow.

Linda thrust herself forward, her body lurching out of the wheelchair. With her eyes shut tight, she hurled herself

down the stairs without a moment's hesitation.

“Ahhh!”

Though it was her choice to jump, fear still ripped through her as she tumbled and her body slammed against

the steps.

Agonizing pain jolted through her as she hit the floor, and then everything went black.

“Linda!”

“Linda!”

Both men raced down the stairs, looking deeply worried and shocked. Ernest dropped to the floor beside her and

reached out to lift her in his arms.

“Let me,” Eric said firmly, stepping in with a grave expression. Ernest's leg was still weak from the car accident,

so he wasn’t in the best shape to carry anyone.

“All right.” Ernest nodded, understanding Eric's concern.

He gave way, allowing Eric to lift Linda up.

“Quentin!” Ernest shouted without wasting a moment. “Get the car ready! Call the hospital and tell them we're

on our way!”

“Yes, sir!”

In the emergency center, the doors to the operating room finally swung open, and the doctor stepped out.

Ernest and Eric immediately rushed forward. “Doctor, how is she?”

“Mr. Scott, Mr. Flynn,” the doctor greeted them calmly. “You can breathe easy. Miss Harris only sustained minor

injuries. Nothing serious or life-threatening.”

He went on to explain that the staircase wasn’t very high, and because Linda's legs were weak to begin with, her

fall didn’t have the force that could've made things worse.

“She has already been moved to her room,” the doctor added.

“However... she’s still unconscious.”
