“Why?” Ernest and Eric tensed again, the relief they'd just felt vanishing in an instant. “You said there were no

serious injuries.”

“The test results say she’s fine,” the doctor assured them, looking between the two. “But sometimes, medicine

has its limits. There are cases where the body doesn’t respond as expected. This is most likely temporary, and

she should wake up soon.”

For now, that was all they could hope for.

“All right. Thank you.”

Ernest and Eric made their way to Linda’s room.

She lay still on the bed, her expression calm, as if in a deep sleep.

Ernest noticed this and whispered, “You should head home. Hadley and Joy will be waiting for you.”

He was right.

went through hell to be together. Don’t let anything else get in the way now.”

He waved his hand. “Go on.”

“All right.” Eric pressed his lips together, then nodded. “I'll be on my way then.”

With that, Eric turned and quietly left the room.

Back at Olisvale Bay, the sun had yet to completely set, casting a soft glow across the estate.

Inside the south wing of the Scott estate, Hadley held Joy's hand, guiding her down the stairs.

“Mommy, Daddy’s home!” Joy squealed with delight, slipping free from Hadley’s grasp and racing across the

hall.

“Daddy!”

“Hey there.” Eric crouched with a warm smile just in tto catch her in his arms.

Joy threw her arms around his neck and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

“You kept your promise, Daddy! So that’s your reward!”

“Is that so?” Eric's eyes crinkled with laughter. “Well, thank you, Joy.”

Then, turning to Hadley with a playful grin, he pointed to his other cheek.

“And what about your mommy? Doesn't Daddy get a reward from her too?”
