Chapter 1631:
“Are you mad, Jerome?” Nina asked, picking up on his quiet mood.
“If Jerhung out with other girls over the break and got closer to them than you, would you be okay?” Jesse
cut in, knowing Nina’s words might sting Jera bit.
Nina tilted her head. “I'd be happy for him.” Jerblinked, caught off guard.
Jesse was just as stunned.
“My teacher says we should make lots of friends,” Nina said with earnest eyes. She wasn’t clingy about much.
“Jerome's kinda shy. If he made more friends, I'd be thrilled for him.”
Jesse had a light bulb moment. He and Jerome, a bit more grown-up than most kids, held on tighter to the people
they cared about.
But Nina? She was different. If someone shared her passions, she'd play with them, no fuss. Her world was
simple and open.
“But | messed up. | broke my promise,” Nina admitted softly, her voice full of heart. “I'm sorry.”

“As long as you're happy.”
“Are you visiting Jeucwell?” Nina asked brightly.
“Nope.”
“Then we'll hang out when I'm back!”
“Sounds good.”
“Bye!”
“Hold on,” Jersaid, wanting to keep her on the line a bit longer.
Nina tilted her head, curious. “What's up?”

“You are playing with your new friend later?” Jerasked, a flicker of mixed feelings in his eyes.
“Yup,” Nina said truthfully. “But Damian’s super quiet and doesn’t talk much. I’m not sure if | can make him
smile.” Jerwent quiet, feeling a little low.
“Don’t you likehanging out with Damian?” Nina asked, sensing his shift.
“No,” Jersaid gently, though it wasn’t fully true. “I just miss you, that’s all.”
“We'll be back in ten days!” Nina said with a grin.
Jernodded, said goodbye, and they hung up.
Nina didn’t notice anything off. She took Jerome’s words at face value, thinking he was just lonely in Alerith.
“Nina,” Jesse said, wanting to check something.
She looked up, her face still sweet and innocent. “Yeah?”
“If Jerplayed house with other girls, would you be upset?” Jesse asked straight-up.
Nina tilted her head, her wide eyes sparkling with curiosity. “Why would | be upset?” she asked plainly.
Jesse paused, searching for a clear way to explain. “Well, Jerwould be another girl's husband in the game,”
he said gently.
“Jesse!” Nina's voice was full of sincerity.
Jesse frowned, confused by her reaction.
“It's just a game,” Nina said seriously. “Like when we play hide-and-seek.”
