"Back to New York City?" Gerard asked as he powered up his laptop and hacked into the hotel's internal system.
He discovered that the people tailing him had already checked out.
"Healy, Kearney, George," he said, glancing up at the three who were immersed in a gof cards.
"What's up, Gerard?" they replied, looking up in confusion.
"My grandmother's spies have vanished," Gerard continued. "Tomorrow, when
you guys go exploring, make sure to graba souvenir."
"They're gone?" George asked, intrigued. "Where did they go?"
"They must have gone back to New York City."
Kearney chimed in, "Gerard, how about we help you look for them?"
Healy and George nodded in agreement.
Gerard shook his head, "No need, you guys go enjoy yourselves. Just take lots of pictures, or else it'll be hard to
justify the trip when you get home. Besides, | don't even know who my mother is, so there's not much you can

Yeager, I've arrived in Cloudcrest."
Nanson, who was chatting with Violet, saw Gerard's message and quickly replied: "You're already here?"
"Yes," Gerard confirmed.
"Let's meet up when you have time," Nanson suggested.
"Sure thing."
The next day arrived swiftly.
Gerard set out early, even though he had no leads and gathered no information that day. Still, he remained
undeterred, confident that he would eventually find his mother.
Meanwhile, Carole had been urging Nanson to introduce Violet to the family, so Nanson broached the subject
with Violet.
Violet lit up with excitement at the prospect of meeting Carole but feigned nervousness, "What if your sister
doesn't like me? Would you break up with me?"
Nanson chuckled, "You're amazing; there's no way she wouldn't like you."
In his eyes, Violet was a catch.
Violet blushed, "I'm not as great as you say."
"How about this Sunday morning? Are you free? | could pick you up," Nanson proposed.
Violet hesitated, "I have two classes on Sunday morning, but | can switch with another teacher."
"Great," Nanson nodded.
Since Violet was coming over on Sunday, Carole decided to take Anthea shopping
on Saturday to buy a gift for her future sister-in-law.
Being a Saturday, the mall was bustling. Anthea linked arms with Carole, steering her towards a high-end
skincare store. "Mom, Jet's get you sskincare products! Your skin is great, but it's tto start a routine."
At thirty-nine, Carole's skin was still youthful, but without proper care, aging was inevitable.
Though initially reluctant, Carole followed Anthea into the store after her persuasive suggestion.
The store was a high-end
establishment, and the sales associate, skilled at reading customers, warmly greeted Carole and Anthea. "What
can | help you with today?"
Anthea smiled, "This is my mom. Could you recommend shydrating and anti- aging products for her?"
The sales associate eagerly introduced a range of products to Carole, who listened intently. "Alright, I'll take this
set."

purchase this set along with
another, you can enjoy a 15%
discount."
Aware of marketing tactics, Carole smiled, "Just this set for now. I'll cback when | need more."
Understanding, the sales associate wrapped up the purchase and led Carole to the checkout.
Carole considered buying something for Violet but decided against it since she wasn't sure of Violet's skin type.
Suddenly, a sharp slap echoed through the relatively quiet store, followed by a voice dripping with sarcasm:
