Chapter 1636:
“Yes,” Kristian replied warmly, his tone laced with tenderness.
“Can we go to an amusement park?” Nina asked softly, almost unsure of herself, then added, “He's too quiet. |
don’t think he’s ever been to one before.”
“Sure,” Kristian agreed without hesitation.
She played with her fingers and glanced around, clearly working up to say more. Noticing it, Kristian asked
outright, “Is there something else you want?”
“Can we have exclusive use of the amusement park?” Nina pulled out her bank card again and scratched her
head sheepishly. “I found out he doesn’t like crowds.”
If it was too packed, Damian would definitely feel uncomfortable. She just wanted him to enjoy himself.

“Of course,” Kristian said, nodding in agreement.
Nina jumped up in delight, beaming. “You're the best!”
Jesse's first instinct was to say no. “You guys go ahead tomorrow. I'll stay hand read.”
“You can read anytime, but he only gets to play with us for one day,” Nina said, grabbing his hand. “Cwith
us, please?”
“No,” Jesse refused firmly. He could already imagine what Nina had in mind. Those crazy rides like pirate ships
and roller coasters? He had zero interest in risking his life for fun.
“Jesse, | know you lovethe most. Please say yes,” Nina said sweetly, tugging on his arm. Her voice softened,
and her big eyes practically begged. “If you don’t come, | won't enjoy it at all.”
Jesse knew she was totally bluffing—and those puppy eyes were definitely for show. Still, staring into that face,
he found himself wavering.
“Please?” Nina coaxed him again, her voice like honey.
Jesse turned his head away, trying hard not to cave. “Letthink about it.”

“If you cwith me, I'll listen to you from now on,” Nina promised. “If you tellto study, I'll study. | won't
even complain about anything you makedo.”
Jesse was speechless. It sounded like he was skind of taskmaster.
“Jesse,” Nina said again, her voice rising an octave, sounding adorably pitiful.
Jesse pursed his lips and gave her a sideways glance. Finally, he caved. “Just this once. Don’t expect this again.”
“Yay!” Nina's grin stretched from ear to ear. “I knew you were the best.”
“Didn’t you just say Mr. Shaw is the best?” Jesse asked, clearly not ready to let that go.
“You're number one! He's second!” Nina laughed brightly, sharp as ever.
Jesse looked at Kristian with just the tiniest bit of smugness. Kristian didn’t react at all.
Later at home, while Jesse went off to shower, Nina crept over to Kristian and said sweetly, “What | said earlier
was just to make Jesse happy. In my heart, you are the best.”
“You little rascal,” Kristian said, tapping the tip of her nose.
Nina giggled. To her, it made perfect sense—praise Jesse when he was around because he really was good to her.
But when he wasn’t, Kristian deserved slove too. It kept things balanced. It kept everyone smiling.
The next morning, before either of the kids had even rolled out of bed, Kristian went over to find Damian. No one
knew what they talked about, but when Nina and Jesse cdownstairs, they saw Damian already sitting in the
living room. In that moment, Nina's heart soared. She never imagined she'd wake up to such a big surprise.
