Chapter 1640:
Greta switched the call to speaker and opened her chat with Freya.
She typed, “Kristian took the kids to the amusement park. Jesse's nervous but doesn’t want to admit it. Any
ideas?”
Freya replied, “Let him ride it a few more times. He'll get over the fear.”
Greta sent a question mark, then asked, “Is that Ellis?”
Ellis, typing for Freya, answered, “Yup.”
Greta hesitated. “Jesse's still a kid. Are you sure that’s the best plan?”
“Tell him what | said,” Ellis replied. “He'll figure it out.”
Greta stared at the message, puzzled. Was there a deeper meaning?
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtStill confused, she passed it on. “Jesse, | checked with your mom. Your dad answered.”
“What'd he say?” Jesse asked, trusting his dad always had his back.
Greta paused. “He said if you ride it more, you won't be scared anymore.”
Jesse stood still for a second, lost in thought. Give it a few shots?
Greta smiled, trying to ease his mind. “Your dad loves to poke fun, Jesse. Don’t let his teasing get to you.”
Jesse's young voice carried a hint of resolve. “He's not wrong, though.”
Greta’s brow furrowed, confused. “You're not really gonna go through with this, are you?”
Jesse's eyes sparkled with ideas as he glanced at the group getting ready to head to another spot. “I'm going to
join them now. Tell my dad thanks for me.”
Greta’s mind was swirling with questions. Why was Jesse thanking his dad? Grown-ups struggle to face their
fears, so for a kid like Jesse, it must be even tougher.
“Jesse!” Nina's warm voice rang out after he hung up the phone. “What did Aunt Greta say?”

“Not much,” Jesse said with a shrug, scanning the area. “What's the plan? What are we playing?”
“The roller coaster!” Nina chirped.
“Let's do it,” Jesse said, ready to roll.
“Yay!” Nina squealed, her excitement bubbling over.
Jesse took a deep breath, pushed his fears aside, and joined Nina and Damian riding the amusement park
attractions over and over. The goal wasn’t really to conquer fear—it was about finding a good excuse to say the
rides weren't fun anymore and step away.
Sure enough, after about twenty minutes, Jesse stood up, his voice calm and steady. “You guys go ahead. I'll wait
here.”
Nina tilted her head, puzzled. “Why?”
“It’s just boring,” Jesse said, grabbing his small backpack from a waiting bodyguard.
Seeing Jesse was done, Nina didn’t push. The day was about making sure Damian had a blast, after all.
For the rest of the afternoon, Jesse stayed out of the activities.
He sat quietly, playing with his things, content in his world.
